Our Studio’s
History
Nestled in the heart of downtown McAllen, our studio occupies a landmark rich in cultural heritage. Originally constructed in 1921 as Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School, this building was established to serve the city's Mexican-American community. In 1927, an annex adorned with Aztec-inspired ornamentation was added to accommodate the growing student population. Recognizing its historical significance, the city designated it as a landmark in 2009.
The annex is now home to BD Photography, a space thoughtfully redesigned for comfort, beauty, and purpose. Inside, you’ll find two dedicated shooting rooms, glam suites for hair and makeup, and curated spaces for design, ordering, and creative planning. We’ve blended old and new to create an environment where legacy and storytelling come to life.

How do I book a session?

Do you photograph large groups or teams?
Absolutely. Whether it's a corporate team or a large family, we’re experienced in organizing group sessions that are seamless and beautifully coordinated. Contact us directly for group pricing.
I don’t know how to pose. Will you guide me?
Being photogenic is about feeling confident and comfortable and that’s exactly what we guide you through. Our sessions are fully directed, from where to place your hands to how to position your body. You’ll never be left wondering what to do.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking 4–6 weeks in advance to ensure availability, especially if you’re planning around a milestone or special date. Limited weekend spots fill quickly.
Can I bring someone with me to my session?
Absolutely. We want you to feel as comfortable and confident as possible. You're welcome to bring a friend, partner, or family member for support.
I’m not photogenic. What should I do?
Every detail matters to us. Lighting, wardrobe, angles, and expression. We’ll guide you with intention and creativity so you’ll great, and love your portraits. You don’t need to know how to pose, you just need to show up, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Will you help me choose what to wear?
Yes! During your consultation, we’ll guide you on wardrobe choices based on your style, goals, and the overall look of the shoot. You’ll receive our prep guide with tips to feel confident and camera-ready.
When will I receive my final images or products?
After your session, we’ll schedule a viewing and ordering appointment where you’ll select your images. Final retouched images and products are typically ready within 3–4 weeks, depending on your selections.
